It was born from our passion for software in all its depths and the people that enable it.

As active members of our local communities, when we look around, we find ourselves focused on a small, or even tiny, aspect of our lives as software developers: a framework, a software pattern or a programming language. Frameworks evolve and sometimes die, patterns and programming languages go out of fashion but we stay on as developers!

Machine. Operator. is the culmination of our desire to be part of developer community that embraces our likeness more than our differences. One that reminds us that we are all working with similar computer science/engineering principles and that the way we experience our daily lives is rooted in our common ability to understand a problem, design and implement a solution.

We are united by the fact that, in a way, through writing software instructions, we are all operators of the machine in front of us! Last but not least, we want to move away from the speaker-audience model and instead of having people spend even more hours of their day sitting looking at a decorated screen with slides, to create a new format that encourages and creates discussion and real-time exchange between everyone - a true community experience!
